Perhaps the band’s greatest asset is lead singer Van McCann. In typical indie fashion, he isn’t afraid to hold back his passion and makes sure to put in a good growl or two, but for the majority of the album he keeps his vocals pleasingly smooth and rich. â€Å"The Balcony† is a solid debut that, at times, features strokes of brilliance. With just a bit of hard work a nd innovation, this band may indeed be headed for the mainstream.
